Danger Dan, Danger Mom, and Frodo
I posted about my Great Skydive Adventure a few weeks ago, thinking that I’d checked that one off my Bucket List and never needed to do it again. And then….
Danger Dan, Frodo, and the other professional skydivers are a wonder, aren’t they? Following their bliss, jumping out of planes for fun and profit – not falling prey to ordinary 9 to 5 jobs like the rest of us. Where do they get the guts to do that?
Well, in Danger Dan’s case I’m pretty sure he gets it from his mother. I had the opportunity to meet her when she visited DD during the holidays and I’m so glad I did! She's quite the inspiration.
Danger Mom jumped out of a plane with her son – her first jump, by the way—and I honestly couldn’t tell which of them was prouder of the other.
This is a lady who manages to combine common sense with a sense of adventure, who worries about her boy but understands the importance of encouraging him to do what makes him happy, and who freely admits to screaming on the way down even as she plans ahead for her next jump.
Yes, the next jump. When the weather is warmer. Inspired by Danger Mom’s daring, I gleefully suggested that we both make our second jump on the same day. And now I have a vision wherein the plane is filled with mothers who want to have a little fun and show their kids that we’re still cool, no matter our age.
